My hubby and I decided to buy some new living room furniture for Christmas. A new beautiful dark grey couch and chair as well as new end tables. Now we have seven grand-children and I would like the new furniture to stay new-looking for a while so we protected the new couch and chair with a stain-resistant treatment and I decided to make two table toppers for the tables.

My boss, who's also a dear friend, is going to be a grand-mother this month. I waited to find out the sex of the baby and the nursery colours before I started planning the quilt. And once I had that information, I started pulling fabric and looking for a pattern to showcase the beautiful prints.

I can't remember when I purchased the Mod Quads pattern by Designs by jb. I think I was on Pinterest looking for ideas for scrappy quilt designs (I'm still desperate to bring my scrap bins under control) when I found it. I googled the pattern name and designer and was surprised to find no website for Designs by jb. Instead, I found an online shop that sold it so I purchased the pattern from them.

I'm not a huge fan of the colour orange and yet, this is my fourth or fifth orange quilt now. Turns out my stash had quite a few orange fat quarters in it and I do like it with a black background, so when I made the decision to work on the Pulsar quilt and make a crib size quilt from it, I pulled four orange fat quarters and Kona Black.

A few weeks ago, my very good friend Debbie asked me if I'd be able to make her a pillow sham inspired by a photo she had of Eddy Van Halen's guitar (she's a huge VH fan). Over the years, I've made many quilts for my children and grand-children. Nothing pleases me more than seeing my quilts displayed in their homes or seeing my grand-babies wrapped in them. And when my youngest daughter moved out on her own, she requested a quilt for her bed.

I finished another scrappy quilt! This is New Orleans Sidewalk designed by Linda Graham and published in Issue 39 of Make Modern. 

This took a really long time to cut and piece but it was worth the extra time - I love this quilt! But because the cutting and piecing took so long, by the time I was ready to start quilting, I really wanted it to be done so I chose to stitch a large stipple in grey thread.

I love all the different shades of green with the Kona Ash. And the backing is a gorgeous and soft sheet ...

This week's quilt finish is my new favourite! I've always been attracted to very graphic, modern and all-solid quilt designs and this one definitely fits all of the above characteristics.

But for some reason, I thought this would be incredibly difficult and take a long time to sew. It really didn't! My baby girl is moving out and getting her own apartment this coming May. I've promised her a quilt for her bed but until that's done, I decided to whip up a quick table runner. 

I was going to make placemats at first and I had decided on this free pattern by Alissa Haight Carleton. But when I confirmed the colours with Marianne, she said she would rather have a table runner. There has been a lot of talk and writing about blogs no longer being "relevant" and how fewer and fewer bloggers are active anymore. I guess that's due to the rise of Instagram and how quickly you can share on that platform. But I love writing and sharing on my blog and I still follow many, many bloggers. I have been having much fun with my walking foot lately! The little quilt I am sharing today started off as simply that - practice with the walking foot and my WALK book by Jacquie Gering.

I started with a half yard of some Kona Tangerine (it looks a little more red than orange in my photos) which I cut in half - one half for the top and one half for the back. I used one layer of cotton/poly batting and Aurifil #2600 (Dove) in 50 wt.

I know that making six blocks in a whole month might seem like a pretty weak goal, but I also completed a vintage quilt repair for a client, quilted several charity tops for our guild's outreach to local pediatric hospitals, and I just finished quilting a huge, gorgeous Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt for a client that I am DYING ...

Yet another Bonjour Quilts pattern all made up! This one is called Gather 'Round and I'm more than a little bit in love with it.

Besides the 3.25 yards of background fabric (which is Kona Ash in my version), this pattern doesn't require a whole lot - one yard of the chevron fabric (Kona White here) and 0.75 yard of the motif fabric (Kona Berry). I can picture it being pieced from a variety of different fabrics in the same colour family though - so you potentially could use fat quarters.

I pinned the Diamonds in the Deep quilt pattern by Bonjour Quilts a few years ago but I somehow only bought the pattern recently. And then a few weeks ago I finally started cutting the fabric to make it. I hesitated on the colours to use for a while but ended-up settling on Kona White and Kona Coal both of which I had plenty of in my stash.

I wanted to do something a little bit different for the centre squares and used a fat quarter of some sparkly fabric.
